Motorcyclist (30s) dies after bike hit wall this morning in Terenure

In a separate incident, two men were taken to hospital following a three-car crash in Rathcoole.

Updated 1:50pm

A MAN IN his 30s has died after the motorcycle he was riding struck a wall in Dublin this morning.

The crash occurred on Terenure Road East at the junction with Ferrard Road shortly before 8am this morning.

He was treated for his injuries at the scene but died a short time later.

The site has been examined by a garda forensic team, and the body of the deceased man has been removed to the city morgue where the coroner has been notified.

The road had been closed to facilitate the investigation, but it has now re-opened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident to contact them at Terenure Garda Station on 01 666 6400.

Earlier, two men were injured in a three-car collision in Dublin, just as the morning rush hour began this morning.

Three cars collided on the N7 Naas Road at Rathcoole at around 7am this morning.

Traffic was originally down to just one lane on the road, causing delays, but this has since been cleared.

The two men were brought to hospital for further treatment.

It’s dog eat dog on that road every morning. No inch given in this ultra competitive sport to ensure that you are one car length ahead reaching the M50.

Speeding and tail gating is out of control on N7, all these many many accidents are driver error. I’ve see 4 in my time on the N7 and they were all due to speed and/or careless driving.

I think fixed speed cameras along with temporary speed limits are the answer. 60kph in rush hour, you enter and exit the N7 faster then the average time based on 60kph then you get got. This would not only cut out the accidents if you let traffic flow more freely and reduce the ribbon braking caused by tail gating.

More hurry, less speed as they say.

@Soupy Norman: People should stop using the word “accident”. Dangerous or careless driving or speeding are not done by accident. Only around 10% of road collisions are unavoidable and its they that are accidents.

@Soupy Norman: Yet there is another story saying cyclists are the cause of any accident involving a car. Logic just tells you if people drive like that around other cars their behaviour will not be better around cyclists. Given the pure hatred express about cyclists you can be sure they are worse around them.

@Leo Massey: No Geography was correct. Terenure Road East at the junction with Ferrard Road is spot on. I know because I cycled by when they were giving the poor guy CPR.
