Man being treated for serious head injuries after early morning assault outside Dublin nightclub

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and want to speak to a taxi driver who picked up a man close to the scene.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for witnesses after a man was allegedly assaulted outside a nightclub at Airside, Swords in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 3.40am and discovered a seriously injured man being attended to by staff from the night club.

The injured man, believed to be in his 30s, was taken by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital where he is being treated for serious head injuries.

The scene is preserved and a garda investigation is underway.

Gardaí would like to speak anybody who may have witnessed an altercation between two men outside the club between 3am and 3.30am.

In particular, gardaí want to speak with the driver of a light or bright coloured taxi who picked up a man on the roadway close to where the injured man was being treated.

There was at least one other occupant in the taxi at the time. The man who got into the taxi is described as wearing a light coloured short-sleeved t-shirt and dark trousers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Swords Garda Station on 01-6664700.

    Outside ‘a nightclub in Airside’ why not just say it’s The Wright Venue?!? Might actually jog someone’s memory instead of talking in code!! Not that anyone would be surprised!

    @RadioTerry:
    ….and with that the article is accompanied by a picture of the hospital instead of the venue.

    @RadioTerry:

    Do you really think that any people that were actually there would need to be told the venue’s name in order to jog their memories

    @Nick Allen: what about others who weren’t there but might wish to avoid it for the future based on rational probability derived thinking?

    @Jamie: no. It’s a question of analyzing risk/reward is all and making a choice that’s rational for oneself. When I was 20 and 30 I was far fitter and faster and able to look after myself in a scrap so the analysis then would be different from my analysis now; supplemented as it is with the wisdom of age that is proven by my having managed to survive to 51 and it’s lookin good still.

    And as someone else observed the rise of Mixed Martial Arts and with it morons who think with 15 pints of heavy onboard that they’re Conor McGregor. In my day it was Bruce Lee but a pint bottle across the back of the head still had the same effect on one’s jeet kune do abilities as they do today on one’s MMA abilities. Or perception of same. Thanks but no thanks staying in with a six pack a friend or two and Sky movies appeals much more to one’s survivability prospects than going out in certain areas.

    @John O’Driscoll:

    The purpose of the article is to look for witnesses and not to advise people of whether the venue is a safe environment or not.

    @Suzie Sunshine:

    It is exactly the point. The article is about looking for witnesses and my comment was specifically relying to RadioT’s suggest that the name of the venue would help jog people’e memory

    probably nothing to do with the venue. and probably nothing to do with excessive alcohol.

    2 things; the cameras from inside the venue, if those involved were in there, should enable identifying them

    taxi’s all have GPS now. Surely the service they were dispatched by can tell where they were. goes for apps like hailo (has a new name, and UBER)

    theres enough potential information to track ‘em down

    long before things like MMA and UFC and the rest, there were probably more violent incidents back in the day, these brands supporting violence have nothing to do with.
