PEARSE HAS BEEN named the Overall Best Train Station in Ireland at the annual Iarnród Éireann Best Station Awards.
It also collected the title of Best DART Station, beating off competition from Malahide and Greystones, which were highly commended.
The winners are chosen by public vote, with almost 15,000 customers rating their stations as part of this year’s awards, by customer information, station appearance, staff helpfulness and staff appearance.
The station, which serves thousands of commuters every day, has been upgraded in recent years with a new entrance opening out into Trinity College. The trophy will adorn Pearse station throughout the next year.
While Pease who best overall station, there were also regional winners from across the country. These were the winners:
Munster
Best Station – Templemore
Highly Commended – Killarney and Cork
Connacht
Best Station – Carrick-on-Shannon
Highly Commended – Westport and Ballina
Leinster
Best Station – Athlone
Highly Commended – Mullingar and Carlow
The 2014 overall winner, Hazelhatch & Celbridge took the title for Best Commuter Station with Arklow and Rush & Lusk were highly commended by customers.
Best Customer Service went to Sligo station.
The awards took place at Iarnród Éireann’s Inchicore Engineering Works today.
