Paul Schutz resigns as Aer Arann CEO

Board member Seán Brogan has been named interim CEO.

PAUL SCHUTZ HAS resigned as the head of Aer Arann.

A spokesperson for the airline told TheJournal.ie that he is leaving the company “amicably and for personal reasons”.

He will remain involved at Aer Arann for “a short time” to facilitate the changeover.

Board member Seán Brogan has been named as the interim CEO of the airline.

“He has been working closely with Paul and management over the past year,” the spokeswoman said.

Schutz took over as CEO on 1 January 2009 but has been with the airline since 2006. He previously worked at Ryanair, British Airways, Eirjet and Virgin Express.

Aer Arann suspended some of its flight routes for this winter season, leading to staff cuts at Galway Airport.

@ hollyd Paul Schutz did not resign prior to Eirjets demise, in fact he was last man out the door.. Staying in that office on a 24 hour basis for days at a time trying to save those jobs. He is a selfless person, I don’t think he deserves that comment. If he leaves for personal reasons accept it! Stop speculating!

Ditto. Well said dude. Aer Arann have little to worry about. They are mostly an Aerlingus franchise operator now, routes which are doing well for them.

I’d say there might be a fair chance of a full merger with or absorption by Aer Lingus rather than the airline going bust. After all the Aer Lingus Regional services operated by them are doing well and showing healthy growth.

Aer arann are finished. They are not resuming flights out of galway. Galway airport is finished too. Motorways make is utterly pointless – a lot of money wasted upgrading it over the years. Too bad galway chamber of commerce backed this white elephant. Their time would be better spent getting by pass road built.

You’ve got to worry about AA at this stage.
