POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured in a “breathtakingly violent” assault earlier this week.
Anthony McMahon (59) was found unconscious and barely breathing in a pool of blood in a car park on Longwood Road, Newtownabbey in Antrim at 10.40pm on Tuesday night.
He had been savagely beaten and had sustained severe head and facial injuries.
Detective inspector Chris Millar said that McMahon’s injuries were very serious.
“The injuries sustained by Mr McMahon are such that he was left unrecognisable to even his closest family members and will now have to undergo reconstructive surgery,” Millar said.
His injuries are much more than ‘serious’, they are life changing.
The PSNI said they were appealing for the assistance of the public in tracking down whoever carried out the attack.
“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the Longwood Road area on Tuesday night. Whether you were just passing through, visiting the retail park or were there for any other reason, you may be able to help us,” Millar said.
McMahon was described as a “well-known and well liked individual in the local area”.
“I cannot stress enough just how breathtakingly violent and wicked this assault was,” Millar said.
People in Northern Ireland with information on the assault are asked to contact 101, quoting reference number 1360 15/08/17.

I have a dash camara on my vehicle to record road incidents,it takes excellent video with time and date confirmation,and is accepted as evidence in court, yea could be really interesting.

Dump greyhound now. Switch to Citybin. They are great. Greyhound recently won a huge Dublin City Council contract. I bet they quoted a pittance to get same and are now trying recoup their losses from their workers. The same council handed them the original and monopoly contract for Dublin which put the public at their mercy and they hammered us with huge prices. Monolopy at work. It took a case in the european court to open the market to competition.
We should all be supporting workers trying to improve their lot

You must be part of the Citybin PR machine Martin. You should get your facts straight. DCC was losing €20m a year with these same workers. It was cheaper for them to pay Greyhound to take the business a few years back. You can now get bins of Greyhound for as little as €69 per year if you threaten to leave for Citybin

What i meant was that the title mentions the word jumping but the quotes in the article only mention walking. Sensational headline, bud.

Funny how a spouse of employee is in and out of greyhound all day and was there for 2 hours before incident ,dint know they had a “bring a spouse to work day” god forbid he / she would have had a human cargo in the back of the van ?.
