DUBLIN

IFI Family Festival 2017: The IFI is hosting a child-tastic weekend of film with showings of all kinds of family workshops and showings of the newest, coolest children’s movies from around the world.

Suits: 5+. Time: All weekend. Tickets: Tickets to movies cost €5 each and family tickets of two adults and two children or one adult and three children cost €15. Workshops are €15-€20. Find out more here

Archeofest 2017: Merrion Square is going to become a bone lover’s dream this Saturday when the Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland host an entire day of family themed excavations, demonstrations and opportunities with the people who discover our history, every day.

Children’s Nature Treasure Trail Christchurch: It’s the last opportunity for kids explore Christchurch Cathedral and try to find the answers to nature-themed questions hidden in the building. This treasure trail has been taking place all month, and it is brilliant.

Dublin Fun Fest Dublin Fun Fest

Dublin Fun Fest Smithfield: Smithfield is turning into a whimsical family wonderland this Sunday with a free family fun day. Expect all kinds of attractions, from inflatable games to bag bean toss and long jump competitions.

Don Conroy & The Art Of Birds: Do you remember Don Conroy from The Den? Well he’s coming to the National Gallery on Saturday to show families how to draw birds. The best bit is that he’s bringing along a real life bird of prey as his model! You need to book ahead to secure your place for this event.

Bandon Walled Town Festival: Hone your medieval skill-set this weekend at the Bandon Walled Town Festivals where there will be displays of thatching, blacksmithing and basket weaving as well as lots of face painting and games.

DONEGAL

A Taste Of Donegal: A Taste of Donegal will predictably be serving up some delicious grub all weekend long, but is also surprisingly child-friendly. There will be appearances from Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and the Wobbly Circus Rideabout Clown as well as Mary Poppins and a mobile farm.

Trim Salmon Of Knowledge Festival: This Sunday, Trim will celebrate the legend of the Salmon of Knowledge with its inaugural festival. Expect lots of traditional song and dance, kids races and activities and amusements.

ALL AROUND THE COAST

Whale Watch Ireland: On Saturday, Whale Watch Ireland is heading to twenty different coastal spots around the country to hold a day of whale and dolphin spotting. Bring a set of binoculars and a picnic and hopefully you’ll spot one!
