THREE OFFICERS FROM the Metropolitan Police were injured during what is being described as a “terrorist incident” near Buckingham Palace last night.
Just after 8.30pm, a blue Toyota Prius deliberately drove at a police van and stopped in front of it in a restricted area on Constitution Hill.
The unarmed officers got out of the van and approached the car. As they challenged the sole occupant, he reached for what was later discovered to be a four-foot sword, which was in the front passenger seat.
The Met Police said the officers acted quickly and sustained minor injuries before the man was incapacitated with CS spray.
They said the man repeatedly shouted Allahu Akbar during the struggle.
The man, who is aged 26 and from the Luton area, was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and assault on police. He remains in custody today at a central London police station while a number of searches are being carried out in Luton.
Police confirmed the incident is being treated as terrorism at this time, but said they are keeping an open mind.
Commander Dean Haydon said: “I would like to pay tribute to the bravery and professionalism of these officers who quickly brought this incident under control. Their vigilance, courage and the swiftness of their response demonstrates how our officers are protecting the public at this time.
We believe the man was acting alone and we are not looking for other suspects at this stage. While we cannot speculate on what the man was intending to do – this will be determined during the course of the investigation – it is only right that we investigate this as a terrorist incident at this time.
Haydon added the incident was a “timely reminder” of the threat of terrorism in the UK.

Tommy Robinson has been doing an extremely good job of joining the dots to help British people better understand the Muslim problem all whilst under extreme pressure from the British establishment.

Any where else in Europe this creature would have shot dead and rightly so. The days of unarmed Policing both here and in the UK are an anachronism. We now live in a world in were religious fanatics and other terrorist groups are becoming a greater danger than ever. So if we as ordinary citizens, want (and should want) to live our lives as freely as we do, with the knowledge that creatures such as this in London and those in Brussels, Barcelona, Paris, etc, would be dispatched to the grave as efficiently as possible, then it is time to arm all our security forces.

@Fiona Fitzgerald: When the Police Officer in London took on 3 terrorists with nothing more than a baton and ended up seriously injured as a result he didn’t stop them going on to murder and injure other innocent people. Now let’s assume he had be armed as standard. They would have died there and then and nobody else would have suffered. In Brussels yesterday when the terrorist was shot how may bystanders were hit? In Ripol Spain when the Police Officer shot and killed 4 terrorists how many bystanders were hit? In Munich when the terrorist was shot how many bystanders were shot? When armed Police arrived at the London attack and shot the terrorists how many bystanders were shot? So the likelihood of getting shot by a stray police bullet is around the same as being hit by a plane falling.

@George Vladisavljevic: I know. I thought I would make the point sarcastically before someone else did but clarified the point. I was going to go into a government enforced ban on all whole veg in supermarkets and the only legal veg would be pre-chopped packs, but the battery ran out. I personally think it would be a hilarious subject if it wasn’t so grim. However, there will be calls in the UK for such extra laws on knives etc when anyone can go and make one…or grow their own veg. Just wait for the twitterati to post on the subject..sans sacrcasm.

Where there is a will to harm people, unfortunately, there is almost always a way. One has to find out ways to try to minimize or eliminate the threat, but people such as family, friends, neighbors and Imams have to help the authorities in reducing or eliminating the murderous b*stards. Gun control as well as other restrictions may help a bit but they will not eliminate the threat totally.
Bad enough hearing the damn churchbells ring every hour for no reason. I’ll snap if I have to listen to the call of pray on top of it. Sooner the robots take us out the better.
Surely he should be charged with attempted murder too keep religious nuts like this off the streets
