There's now a curfew in Houston amid reports of post-hurricane looting

The curfew was imposed by the city’s mayor.

AUTHORITIES IN HOUSTON have announced the immediate imposition of a nighttime curfew as the city tries to head off looting in the wake of epic flooding in Texas.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner issued an updated curfew time on Twitter from midnight until 5 am, starting two hours later than previously announced in order “to allow volunteers and others to do their great work.”

“We have thousands of people who are out of their homes, in shelters, waiting for water to subside,” Turner told a press conference earlier.

“Because of the current situation, and the fact that so many people are out of their homes, and power is out, and still it is dangerous to be on the roads late at night, I have decided to impose a curfew starting immediately tonight.”

The city’s police chief Art Acevedo said he had recommended the move to the mayor after several reports of looting in what is America’s fourth largest city.

“The recommendation was made… because we have had instances of looting,” he told the same press conference.

“We’ve had armed robbers that were going around yesterday robbing our community, victimising them again.”

President Donald Trump yesterday toured the Harvey disaster zone in Texas as he sought to project an image of leadership in America’s first big natural disaster since he took office.

Trump, sporting a “USA” baseball cap and clutching a Texas flag with its trademark lone star, tried to strike a unifying tone as he visited the coastal city of Corpus Christi, praising the work of state and federal officials in responding to the disaster.

A crash, or as Elon Musk described it “a rapid unscheduled disassembly”. Maybe next time…

Fascinating technology! Even if the rocket had crashed into the drone ship and damaged it enough to sink it, it would have been a success by the sole fact it had reached its intended target within the acceptable margins of error!

The fact the ship only has superficial damage means the next attempt next month has a real possibility of success! Musk really puts his money where is mouth is!!

It wasn’t really coming down to hard that did the damage, more the sudden stop!

“Musk wants to transform the industry by honing technology that would allow rockets to return to Earth intact for use again and again, much like the airline industry does with passenger planes.”

Ha, disposable passenger planes “everyone out, this one in going in the Irish sea.”
