Motorists caught speeding at 170 kph and learner driver tests positive for cocaine and cannabis

Gardaí also found vehicles with no insurance or tax and in one instance – the NCT was expired by seven years.

A NUMBER OF people have been arrested over the weekend as gardaí crackdown on speeding and drug tests.

Earlier today in Wicklow, a driver was arrested and charged with dangerous driving after being detected travelling at 170 kph on the M11 at Ashford.

It comes after a motorist was caught driving at 141 kilometres per hour in an 80 kph zone in Limerick yesterday.

The driver was approaching the Limerick Tunnel at the time. Gardaí say they issued the driver with a fixed charge penalty notice.

Meanwhile, a learner driver tested positive to cocaine and cannabis in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí said it was a “bad start to a driving career” for the person who was tested in the Dublin area.

It didn’t stop at speeding and drug tests, gardaí also found vehicles with no insurance or tax over the weekend and in one instance - the NCT was expired by seven years.

A driver was arrested and charged in Waterford after a UK registered vehicle that was stopped at a checkpoint had no tax or insurance.

See, banks, rotten to the core, and you have your savings entrusted to them, we are being led on a merry dance where these crooks get to play the game of gambling and take the profits when there is some, when there is losses it’s customers and taxpayers that are called in to pay.

@Eddie O’Neill: Bankers should not get huge salaries or bonuses for using other peoples’ money to make money. Money Makes Money…not bankers. We’ve learnt that banking is as corrupt, and unnecessary, as religion. Good riddance to both.

What’s happening the traders? I’d imagine they wouldn’t be so cavalier if they’d something on the line, like a jail term, for Ireland read as suspended sentence and a bag of monster munch.

@Mary Nugent: According to the European Commission the UK banks have agreed to pay the fines, I hope that puts your small little mind to rest.

@Leonard Barry: do you trust them, are they like their government who try to cancel agreements when they find out they don’t like what they signed up to?

@Leonard Barry: what was small minded about the question? This was a fine imposed by the EU. Legitimate question to ask.

@Mona Murphy: But they didn’t just “cancel” any agreements did they? The UK agreed a multilateral treaty, the Brexit withdrawal agreement, which had clauses and protocols, they enacted agreed clauses and used agreed protocols when there was misalignment or issues, as did the EU at several points. They did use the clauses much earlier than anyone expected them to and with poor communication but they didn’t “just cancel” any agreement. The narrative is they just ignored stuff which isn’t true, you are talking about nearly £1Trn of trade, nothing is done on a whim.

so, this is likely the reason someone i was in contact with last year could predict rise or fall of exchange rates up to an hour in advance. Always wondered how that is possible
