Man (44) dies after crashing into concrete column on M8 in Tipperary

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A MAN HAS died after he crashed into a concrete column on the M8 in Tipperary.

The man (44) was the only person in the car when it collided with the column at 3.10pm  just past junction seven southbound in the townland of Ballyknock, Cashel.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital where a post mortem will take place.

A garda spokeswoman said: “The road was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and has now reopened. Gardaí wish to appeal for any witnesses to contact them at Cashel Garda Station on 062 75840, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any garda station.”

    By that picture it just goes to show the amount of caring drivers on our roads. You could count on one hand those who use dipped lights, even with a blinding sun they still won’t learn. If a poll was to be carried out titled “Do you use your dipped lights at all times”? Everybody would say yes.

    @Shawn Rahoon: its a simple thing to do. Start your car. Put on your seatbelt. Turn on your lights.
    Another one that I see a lot of lately even by the gardai is new cars that have led drl lights. Just because they are on all the time your rear lights are not.
    Stay safe, be seen, turn on your lights.
    No the lights have nothing to do with this unfortunate loss of life but it’s just common sense.

    May that man rip. My thoughts are with his family
