'Despicable': Pensioner with Alzheimer's targeted by fake builders in robbery

The men took money from the victim’s wallet and brought him out of the house to withdraw savings from his bank account.

POLICE IN ENGLAND investigating the burglary of a 77-year-old man’s house have released video footage of the suspects.

The victim, who has Alzheimer’s disease, was at home alone when two men arrived at his house in Tatsfield, Surrey at around 2.50pm on Thursday, 12 October.

The men pretended to be builders who needed payment for work that was never carried out. They took £150 (about €166) from the man’s wallet and brought him out of the house to withdraw savings from his bank account.

A member of the public – who knew the victim – saw the suspects and became suspicious. He worked out what was happening and apprehended one of the men who managed to run off before they both drove off in a black Audi A3 car.

Video footage from within the man’s house captured images of the two men.

P283-17Suspect2 The two suspects Met Police Met Police

Detective Constable Ben Briselden, who is leading the hunt for the suspects, has appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

This is a despicable and cowardly crime targeting an elderly man trying to steal his life savings. If anyone has experienced something similar to this we would urge them to come forward.

“I can personally assure you that all information received will be treated in the strictest of confidence and immediately acted upon.”

No arrests have been made to date and enquiries continue. More information can be read here.

Shock! Horror! Bad people target vulnerable people!! Maybe if there wasn’t a broken legal system here and in the UK run by a soft as shite liberal left judiciary, there would be less of this happening. “Ah but judge, I’m in rehab again and I had a shit childhood…blah, blah, blah…next victim please.”

@kevin: well people get the firing squad in China for attacking tourists, the family don’t get the body unless they pay for the bullet. Still criminals there though aren’t there? Not sure I consider their judicial system “shite liberal leftie stop being an idiot criminals become criminals before they generally discover the judicial system.

@Gary Stewart: sounds like a great system Gary. Maybe 3 strikes and then you’re shot? That would be fair.

@Gary Stewart: Singapore has 0.3% crimes per 100,000 people. One of the lowest in the world. It has notoriously harsh sentencing particularly for drugs. It also has a population similar to ours so compare like with like. No point bringing China into it with it’s 1.3 billion. Ireland has 13.7 violent crimes per 100,000
