TWO TEENAGE BOYS were hospitalised after an attack in Gormanston, Co Meath last night.
The attack occurred in the early evening last night. Gardaí responded to a call of a disturbance on the roadway leading to Gormanston Railway Station. Two 17-year-old boys from Laytown reported being assaulted and required treatment at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.
They were allegedly assaulted by a large group of young men. The alleged attackers were described as both black and white youths and they were accompanied by females who witnessed the assaults.
The groups boarded the train in Balbriggan and got off at Gormanston.
Gardaí in Laytown are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the group either boarding or getting off the train or who were on the train between the two stations last night and who may be in a position to provide any information to gardaí.
They are also appealing to anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Gormanston Railway Station which is just off the R132 north of Balbriggan shortly after 4pm to contact gardaí.

Needed hospital treatment?? One of these young lads has a fractured skull with a bleed on the brain, the other a broken nose and ribs. Rather than send Gardai from Balbrigan (3 mins away) they were sent from Ashbourne (35 mins). A complete joke. These animals are terrorising this quiet area every week. Robbing kids of phones last week. The Garda response was to check windscreens in stamullen at 6 on a Monday to show a presence. Will be no sign of them come the weekend when the village of stamullen is under siege from these animals again.

@Tony Murphy: Totally agree with you. About 4 minutes from Balbriggan Garda station and they send a car from Ashbourne??? Do you reckon the attackers are from Balbriggan? I heard it was a gang from Tyrelstown that use the trains to go around attacking and robbing people.

That’s racist to mention that some of the attackers were black.

There are no staff between Gormanstown and Donabate and the stops in between after 1700/1800hrs so they’re free to travel up and down the network without being stopped. Plenty of incidences of organised fights using that particular network of stops (not that this was one).
