The use of wild animals will be banned in Irish circuses from January 2018

“The use of wild animals for entertainment purposes in circuses can no longer be permitted.”

MINISTER FOR AGRICULTURE Michael Creed has today signed regulations that will ban the use of wild animals in circuses.

The measures will come into effect on 1 January 2018.

“The use of wild animals for entertainment purposes in circuses can no longer be permitted. This is the general view of the public at large and a position I am happy to endorse,” Creed said.

“This is a progressive move, reflective of our commitment to animal welfare.”

Creed said that he is allowing a “modest” period of time for alternative arrangements to be made for the animals in question.

While circus owners and operators may have their regrets about this move, Creed said that he appreciated their concern and care for the animals that have been part of their lives.

However, he said the ability of a travelling circus to provide fully for all the needs of animals such as camels or tigers is no longer a tenable position.

“While the retirement of the small numbers of wild animals in circuses might seem like a loss, I am confident that this move will do more to secure the future of the circus community,” Creed said.

“Coming in line with modern welfare standards will mean that greater numbers of the public will be more comfortable going to the circus,” he said.

The Circuses (Prohibition on Use of Wild Animals) Regulations 2017 are made under the Animal and Welfare Act 2013.

Animal Rights Action Network’s John Carmody said that today was a “great day”.

He said: “Finally Ireland can raise its head and be proud that the country has finally taken a meaningful and real step to stop the suffering of wild animals forced to travel and perform in Irish circuses. We spent 20 plus years fighting for this day and here it is.”

Just like Gadaffi and Saddam he’s the victim of a puppet government put in place by the west until they no longer suited the west’s needs. The more I see how the modern world is shaped and changed by the west, the more I actually start to believe that all the conspiracy theorists about a “new world order” may actually be on to something.

    Good man Stephen
There is nothing better than to see another persons eyes begin to open and realise that the New World Order is a real possibility. Countless world leaders and elitist family’s have gone on record and on camera announcing their aim to achieve a NWO yet people say it’s a conspiracy. I say those people are just scared to admit the truth and unless they face up to this threat against us all those basturds will win.

    Re Declan.

Of course Gaddafi was a victim. The US had him reduce Libya’s army in deals and then had him overthrown.

A world government system is a definite reality in the next few decades. The concept explains a lot. For example the man made global warming rubbish and the implementation of world carbon taxes. It wouldn’t take a genius what the next step would be. Thank god the man made global warming theory has been proven false, although the sheeple still believe it.

    Hey Declan,
why has the US not called the overthrow of a democratically elected government in Egypt by the army not a coup?
Obama refuses to call it that. Is he a lier?

But Bill, he supports the US and Israel. He will get away with it. (Well until they need someone new and will organise a coup)

The overthrow of Morsi didn’t benefit the US. They suspended funding Egypt over the coup that toppled Morsi and brought Sisi to power. The Egyptians are now buying military hardware from Russia not the US.

Although Morsi wasn’t preferred by the US they recognised him for closing the Gaza smuggling tunnels, by pouring concrete into them.

Morsi was a bad choice, he was a little too keen to unleash his bearded “Gestapo” if he had the brains he would have consolidated his grip more gradually and discreetly, by doing this so soon he opened the peoples eyes to the Brotherhood’s style of government . A Government with a fascist religious ideology .

People need to be careful, the army turned on the people after Mubarak was overthrown and were the instigators of a lot of attrocities. Sisi is ex army..but hopefully this maybe something more akin to the democracy and leadership that the people of Tahir Square died for
