Knock-on delays for Dart services during Friday rush hour after incident at Sydney Parade

Service is suspended between Lansdowne Road and Dun Laoghaire.

DART SERVICES ARE only operating between Howth/Malahide and Lansdowne Road, and between Dun Laoghaire to Greystones this evening after an incident caused delays.

An Irish Rail spokesperson told TheJournal.ie that knock on delays can be expected for all Dart services.

It will mean that people who use the service face a longer commute home this evening, as service has been suspended across seven stations on the southside.

The spokesperson added that Dublin Bus is accepting rail tickets on its services.

Some horrible comments on Twitter. Thoughts are with the person struck by the train.

@William Clay: do you know if it was an accident ( it’s just that a young lad has been threatening to do this before. Hope it’s not him!)

Heart goes out to the victim, but Irish Rail were giving out no information for almost 2 hours. They need a better form of communication that just twitter, not everyone has it.

My heart goes out to the person affected and her family but I also spare a thought for the train driver, having a normal day earning his bread and butter when this happens. He will be living with it for the rest of his life.

Knocked on with a 145 broken down from bad brakes, and a 7 stopping at Blackrock to hear about those missing the dart. It’s a hard time getting home. Must be a bad accident with blue lights and closed roads by the station itself
