London police seeking 'voyeur' who put camera in Starbucks toilet, got caught on the same device

The camera had been in place for three or four weeks before being spotted.

L271-17susp A screengrab of the unidentified male, placing the camera in its hiding place Metropolitan Police Metropolitan Police

POLICE IN LONDON are seeking a man who installed a camera in a coffee-shop toilet for ‘the purpose of voyeurism’ but who inadvertently captured his own image on the device.

The camera was hidden in a grate in the ceiling in the only customer toilet in the Starbucks outlet in Vauxhall in southwest London.

A member of the public spotted the device yesterday and alerted the police.

It’s understood that the camera had been in place for between three and four weeks, and was installed ‘for the purpose of voyeurism’, according to detectives with the Metropolitan Police.

Police say that, upon examination, the device was found to contain video files of members of the public using the toilet.

However, the same examination has revealed footage of an unknown man who detectives believe may have been responsible for installing the camera.

An image of the man has been released to the public in an attempt to identify him.

Police say there is no reason to believe anyone other than their own officers has viewed footage from the camera, as the device was seized at the location.

That’s how you do it! None of the messing around with suspended sentences etc. you’d get here.
