Filming on House of Cards suspended for another 2 weeks

The BBC is reporting that production on the show’s sixth season will resume on 8 December.

THE PRODUCTION CREW for House of Cards will continue to get paid for at least another two weeks, according to US media reports.

The popular Netflix programme has been on hiatus since October, when allegations of sexual harassment surfaced against its star Kevin Spacey.

The Baltimore Sun reported that production company Media Rights Capital has updated the cast and crew in an email, saying they’ll be paid for an additional two-week period that begins today and continues through 8 December.

The email said the company will provide another update by 8 December, according to the Associated Press.

But the BBC is reporting that production on the show’s sixth season will resume on that same date, without Spacey.

The show is filmed in the Baltimore area and between 250 and 300 people work as part of the production crew.

Spacey played ruthless politician Frank Underwood and served as the programme’s executive producer, along with his co-star Robin Wright.

Netflix and Media Rights Capital recently announced that Spacey had been fired following a series of sexual assault and harassment allegations against the Oscar-winning actor.

Most recently, London’s world-famous Old Vic theatre said it had received 20 accusations of “inappropriate behaviour” on the part of its former artistic director Kevin Spacey.

House of Cards has gotten really bad in the last couple of seasons, so maybe without Spacey it will be worth watching again.

They should impeach Frack for sexual harassment and throw the book at him. Would be a nice message to send out

F*ck it I love that show, they should just force Spacey to play the part without paying him, that way the only one losing out would be him. Why should the shows fans lose out?

Seems they can cancel it, hastily write him out or recast. All have issues of course. I don’t think you could rewrite an entire series in a a matter of weeks and still retain quality (although quality of House of Cards was declining anyway). Perhaps recasting Spacey, like Ridley Scott did, would be the better option

@Gavin Healy: that’s easier to do in a single stand alone film. Not as easy on a TV show where there have been multiple series previously with the actor as that character… Not too many would take on the role either I would imagine. They would always be compared to Spacey’s portrayal of the character (which is very good)… It’s a very touch decision.
