THE INQUEST INTO the deaths of the Hawe family from Castlerahan in Co Cavan starts today.
Clodagh Hawe and her three children Liam, 14, Niall, 11, and six-year-old Ryan were found dead in their home in August 2016. It’s understood that her husband Alan Hawe killed his family before taking his own life.
The inquest starts at 10am at the courthouse in Cavan town.
The appalling tragedy sent shock waves through the quiet Cavan townland. Alan Hawe was the vice-principal of Castlerahan National School and the family were heavily involved in the local community.
Clodagh Hawe was originally from the nearby village of Mount Nugent and she taught at Oristown National School in Kells, Co Meath.
Alan Hawe was originally from Kilkenny. At the request of his family his body was exhumed from the family grave at St Mary’s Church earlier this year in order to be cremated.
Clodagh Hawe’s mother and sister carried out a fundraising campaign for women and children affected by domestic violence in the aftermath of the tragedy. The campaign raised more than €20,000.

Given it has been 37 years from one report suggesting their might be slightly increased risk to children getting Lukemia I don’t think another 40-50years is going to find it is certain. They aren’t pretty is reason enough but health concerns are in the tin foil hat area.

Alan these pylons wouldn’t have been moved if it wasn’t for the likes of Microsoft and Google funding the project. They did not move these because of the public outcry that’s for sure.
These pylons are being moved because they’re looking to put in a few thousand homes as part of the Clonburris SDZ. If you think traffic is bad now wait until that land is developed.

I would be more concerned about those dodgy pedestrian crossings in adamstown. Accident waiting to happen, especially as you head towards schools.
You should see the fields beside Labre Park in Dublin. 5km from the city centre. This is not an affluent area so the pylons remain.
