Nursery worker in England jailed for over 12 years for sexually assaulting three-year-old boy

181 images and videos of child pornography were found on the man’s iPad.

A NURSERY WORKER has been jailed for 12 and half years after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a young child in his care.

James Riley, 42, was arrested last August after the child’s parents told police their child had been assaulted.

The little boy was interviewed alongside a National Crime Agency registered intermediary who assisted the three-year-old in giving evidence.

The assault took place at a nursery in Coventry where Riley was employed.

Riley initially denied all of the allegations. When his electronic devices were seized, 181 images and videos of child pornography were found on his iPad. Riley had tried to hide the files using an encrypted app.

He denied he had a specific sexual interest in children instead claiming he viewed this material because he liked to imagine himself as the abused child in the photos.

‘Bravery of little boy’

Riley, of Widdrington Road, Radford, pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children at a hearing last year at Coventry Magistrates’ Court.

However, he denied the allegation against the young victim resulting in the three-year-old and his family having to go through the ordeal of providing evidence during the trial.

He was sentenced for both offences at Warwick Crown Court yesterday.

Detective Constable Clare Thorley from the Public Protection Unit, said, “At no point did Riley show remorse for what he had done to this child. His only concern was himself and the result of being caught with the indecent images of children.

The bravery of the little boy and his parents for coming forward is to be commended. They were incredibly dignified and courageous when giving evidence in what was a very difficult and harrowing time for all.

“It is thanks to this brave little boy and his family that Riley has received the punishment he deserves and he can no longer hurt other children.”

So take this scenario: I have my phone in a cradle, it runs and I press or swipe the green button to answer. Is that illegal?

What about a car that had inbuilt phone controls. I need to press a button to answer a call.

What if I decide I want to change the channel on the radio?

All 3 events will distract my attention. Why aren’t all 3 illegal?

Look bruce don’t think of this as an opportunity to give out & complain. It’s a great idea to bring this in for I have no doubt it will result in saving lives. Instead of being so negative & pointing out how much of a burden it is on your life, get on with it, too many people have lost there lives due to this. It’s a problem that needed fixing!

While I am in general with the idea that making calls, texting and browsing should not be allowed by the driver while driving… what about applying make up, drinking (non-alcoholic drinks) and replacing the cup into the cup holder, shaving, brushing your hair, talking to your passenger and trying to control kids on the back seat?

Silly specifying technologies in the legislation. It should state it is illegal to touch your phone, full stop.

If you want to answer use a handsfree kit. Setup music/GPS etc before you leave if you use them.

I cant see that solution every coming in Alan. I use the ear phones that came with my phone, a simple click of a button along the wire while driving. No more a distraction than a gear change. All new cars coming with bluetooth is a better solution.

If any one of you who are complaining had a loved one lose their life due to idiots driving while phoning, texting, changing music or sat nav, I don’t think you would be on here putting smart ignorant, thinking you are funny comments. So spare a thought for those people who have lost a life and say, “great about time the buggers were stopped”!!!!!!!
