Irish people can call it what they like all others should call it St. Patricks Day.
Paddy has derogatory undertones as I well know from my time spent in the UK.

I react every time I hear Paddy. I hate the name and though it comes from Padraig I am unable to like it. Patrick’s Day it is for I can’t refer to Patrick as a mainstream Christian saint. Like Jesus whose loyalty was with Judaism not anything like the religions that have sprung up in his name Patrick has been hijacked for a political social and “religious” agenda.
