Police said the man could assist them with their enquiries.

Parochial house burglary 1 PSNI PSNI

PSNI DETECTIVES INVESTIGATING a burglary last September have released an image of a man they believe could help them with their inquiries.

The robbery took place at a parochial house at Marquis Street in south Belfast in September 2017.

Entry was gained to the property and a sum of cash and an iPad were said to have been stolen.

Detective sergeant Sam McCallum has appealed for anyone who can help in identifying the man pictured to contact detectives in Musgrave on 101 (or 004428 9065 0222 from outside Northern Ireland).

@Ian Walsh: Couldn’t the thief just turn on the iPad in a non wifi area, reflash the iPad and carry on? I’m not too well up on the workings of apple products so I’m just guessing here. Also a lot of these stolen goods are sold on to E European and African gangs so when you do find your iPad in Lagos or the Ukraine I doubt you are going to get it back.

@No One: they could wipe it alright so it couldn’t be tracked but it could never be activated again rendering it unusable once find my iPhone/device was turned on. Only useful for parts.

@pkunzip doom2.zip: not like android, etc. Once find my iPhone is turned on the device can never be used again and there is no hack or anyway around this.

Is there more to this story than what they are saying or just a slow news day? I mean some cash and a tablet, hardly the great train robbery is it? And it happened last September. Maybe something incriminating on that iPad?

With a bit of luck he will take a selfie with the iPad and it will back back up to the cloud and we will get a better look at him. Then Twitter will do it’s thing
