Temperatures to hit 19 degrees this weekend ... but milder weather is to return early next week

Be sure to make use of the barbeque before the cool weather returns.

TEMPERATURES ARE SET to reach up to 19 degrees over the next couple of days, and make sure to get out and enjoy the sun because it looks like we’ll be returning to mild weather by early next week.

Met Éireann says there will be little to no rainfall today across the country, with highest temperatures of 19 degrees.

The weather will remain dry and calm tonight, but temperatures will drop to as low as 3 degrees with a touch of grass frost.

The sunshine is sticking around tomorrow, for the most part, however, the northwest will see cloudier conditions and some light rain. Temperatures will again range between 13 to 18 degrees, with the warmest conditions in the east.

Unfortunately, the warm weather will ease off as we enter the weekend, according to Met Éireann.

While temperatures on Saturday are expected to reach up to 19 degrees, Met Éireann says it will be cooler along the east coast where temperatures will closer reflect the temperature of the sea, coming in at about 9 or 10 degrees.

It is expected to become cloudier throughout the day on Saturday, as some showery bursts of rain are forecast to gradually move up from the southeast and become more widespread in the afternoon and evening.

On Sunday, conditions will be milder again as cool Atlantic westerly air comes in across the country. Sunny spells and blustery showers are forecast for the day.

Looking forward to next week, Met Éireann says it will be mild again with fresh westerly breezes with sunny spells and scattered showers.

@danny: The fact they may be used as cheap labour may have escaped you. Last month the DAA stated there was no plans to ask for the help of the Army. Trained staff were let go by the DAA , the same jobs were then filled under different terms and conditions. Such was this farce, cleaners were upgraded to handle security. The fact Ryan and the government agreed to send in the Army to cover up the incompetent decisions of senior management says it all.

@Radek Warchola: It’s state owned just like Irish Rail. When your train is late, do you blame the government or Irish Rail?

The state owns the airport, but day-to-day operations are not run directly by the government. They reason why the airport is operating the way it is, is down to mismanagement by the upper management staff and not the government directly. Right now, the government has stepped in to offer a solution to the problem.

We’re neutral… So the chances of some country attacking us is almost non existent. Unless someone like Putin fancy themselves a bit of Irish ass.
They can throw sandbags down when there’s a flood.
Give folk lifts in their trucks when the buses are on strike.
A lot of them go overseas for UN duty. It’s a real money spinner for them.
We’re not part of NATO. So no fighting or defending…
We don’t actually need an army… Do we? No more than we need the FCA.
Handy to have IN CASE we get attacked. But how efficient would they be?

@MrsWoman: typical journal comment, based on one interaction you had with one person and portraying it as fact.

But just to bring some reality to it. And not to even get into the weeds.

DF at present approx 8400. 700 in Aircorp from pilots to mechanic, fire , air traffic control and a multitude if other skills and roles.
900ish in navy with being so understaffed in key skill areas it’s difficult to get the fleet to sea to patrol the largest maritime area in Europe. 800 overseas serving on UN missions which 87 never came home and been lucky In a lot cases in recent years. The same number are prepping to take over from those. And ild ask you to break it down by hour away to see if it’s a money spinner in Syria, Leb, mali etc.

    And that’s a basic overview.

    No issue with airport task.

@Richie: ah wind it up Ritchie. The army here are not busy or essential. Why so many go overseas? Because there’s nothing really to keep them busy here. The fact they can be spared to aid the airport speaks volumes. Actually isn’t one of their functions to be of civic aid when required? So there should be no issues with them being temporarily deployed to the airport. It shouldn’t be the case though. The DAA have made a shambles of it.

@MrsWoman: I honestly don’t blame people with your view. The military side of Ireland has been deliberately hidden and suppressed because of the link of nationalism to the troubles.

The whole point of a military not just here but in the world is to be a strategic reserve .

I have no issue with airport as long as paid fairly for it. They are more than well trained for that.

It’s your view that they are just waiting for something to do which is miles off.

There are a multitude of different corps doing different things 24/7. Not all essential front line all the time I agree with you. But that’s not their purpose, it’s to be trained, prepared and ready to do any task for the state. E.g eod, arw, hse attack, covid.

That’s all on top of overseas, recruitment, skill development etc

Not so long ago Coveney sprouted how the Defence force was under funded, yet he has no problem with using troops to cover for the greed of the DAA when they got rid of trained staff, and than tried to fill the lost jobs under different terms and conditions.
