This is what things should look like on Saturday at noon... Met Éireann

Temperatures to reach 20 degrees over bank holiday weekend

Apart from the odd bit of drizzle over the weekend, forecasters say it will be mostly dry and bright.

THE WEATHER THIS week has been a mixed bag, but forecasters are expecting things to pick up ahead of the bank holiday weekend.

Although tomorrow will start off mostly cloudy and misty, it will brighten up as the day goes on and Saturday will be a brighter day with sunny spells.

Met Éireann said there may be a few cloudier periods with the risk of a little drizzle, especially in the northwest in the evening and night. Highest temperatures nationally will be between 15 and 19 degrees with light to moderate south to southwest breezes.

Sunday will be mainly dry with sunny spells. Temperatures are expected to reach 20 degrees in some areas, though it will be cloudier in the northwest with some light rain.

The bank holiday Monday will also be dry and sunny – with a chance of drizzle in some areas – with temperatures of up to 20 degrees.

Ah dammit anyway. I was hoping it would be above 20 degrees so I could slip into my speedos. Any temperature below that and I’d just look ridiculous doing the shopping down in Supervalu.

Nice to see thejournal.ie didn’t give up with their weekend forecasts after last week’s abuse in the comment section. “Worst weather update I have ever seen in my life” read the top comment. Along came the weekend and there was folk in t-shirts one minute getting caught in hailstones the next, just as was forecast. People getting angry at forecasts when their issue is with the climate, not a good look.

A bit of a contrast to the met office forecast that shows that Dublin may hit 18 at some stage. Can’t wait to see who is right but have a very good idea !
