UGANDAN AUTHORITIES ARE hunting for a leopard that snatched and ate the three-year-old son of a female ranger working in the popular Queen Elizabeth National Park.
The boy had been left in the care of a nanny at the unfenced staff quarters of a safari lodge in the park, when he was taken by the leopard on Friday night.
Wildlife authority spokesman Bashir Hangi said the child had followed the nanny outdoors.
“The maid was not aware the child followed her. She heard the kid scream for help, she intervened but it was too late the leopard had vanished with it in the bush and a search was mounted until we got the skull the next day,” he said.
“The hunt is on with the intention of capturing the leopard and removing it from the wild because once it has eaten human flesh, the temptations are high to eat another human being, it becomes dangerous,” he added.

Toddler runs around wild and unattended in leopards natural habitat. Toddler is eaten by leopard. Apart from a mild case of indigestion, I think it was a relatively normal day for leopard….#misunderstoodtoddlereatingleopard
So it would appear that the poor animal is going to be killed at the first opportunity.
Although it only did what is nature for it too do it’s going to pay the ultimate price and all because some stupid nanny couldn’t do as she was supposed to.
This would sickens me sometimes.
@Joe oshaughnessy: I think the only reasonable answer is to close the park and move the humans away never mind the socio-economic impact on the area. (It’s discovered we are an easy food source and needs to take that secret to its grave)

@David Edwards: seems to be a bit harsh too close the park. My question here is why weren’t the staff quarters fenced off if this had been the case this tragic event wouldn’t have happened.

@Joe oshaughnessy: it says capturing and removing it from the wild. It doesn’t say it will be killed. Possibly put in a zoo or small enclosed game reserve

If you read the hole story it also says that so ranger or something like that has said that once the get a Test

Anyway yes I’m aware of what it says but it also says that when they kill once its very lightly that they will do it again.
Now so much as I would like to see this animal in surroundings like you have suggested I do think the possibility of this happening is very slim because no matter where you put them there is at some point going to be human contact with them. Now let’s be honest if you were a gamekeeper and you knew that this animal had a history of killing humans all be it that it’s in they’re nature to kill would go near it I doubt it.
@Joe oshaughnessy: 14 lions were poisoned by an angry farmer there recently. A lot of issues as a fishing village has expanded and has cattle within the park who get eaten by lions. It also borders the Congo so there is a lot of poaching by people who ise the border to disappear across.
Terrible for the family. Them’s the risks you take living so carelessly with wild animals.

Why was the area where wild animals are at large “unfenced”? I sincerely hope that poor child died quickly…if you know what I mean. I am actually unhappy I read that article….awful :(
That’s nature man. Leopards do what they do, You gotta respect that. Stay out of their territory or face to consequences.
