Poll: Should there be a ban on using cartoon characters to promote unhealthy food?

A group of MPs in the UK are suggesting the measure be taken.

THE UK IS considering a ban on the use of cartoons of fictional characters promoting unhealthy food.

The House of Commons health select committee include this provision as part of a number of measures to try to combat child obesity levels.

If implemented in the UK, it could mean a ban on well-known characters such as Tony the Tiger or the Milk Bar, on advertisements, the BBC reported.

Statistics on childhood obesity in Ireland remain a concern, with the nation still on course to become the “most obese nation in Europe”. The government has been implementing initiatives – with the Obesity Policy and Action Plan 2016-2025 – to try to address the problem.

So, this evening we’re asking you: Should there be a ban on using cartoon characters to promote unhealthy food?

@Bikes rule the world: So true, all the fanfare for wealthy westerners returning from climbing Everest and barely a mention for these guys, I had never heard of this person until now but his achievements surpass pretty much all of the well known Everest climbers
