Vince Vaughn arrested on suspicion of drink driving

The actor is to appear in court.

VINCE VAUGHN WAS arrested yesterday on suspicion of drunken driving after being stopped at a sobriety checkpoint in a Southern California beach town, police said.

Vaughn, 48, was detained early in the morning in Manhattan Beach after failing a field sobriety test that was captured with officers’ body cameras, Sergeant Tim Zins said.

Vaughn is best known for roles in comedies like Dodgeball and Wedding Crashers, but has landed more dramatic parts in recent years such as playing a drill sergeant in the Oscar-winning Hacksaw Ridge.

A passenger in Vaughn’s car was arrested for public intoxication. Vaughn’s vehicle was impounded.

Both men were also cited for delaying an investigation. Police previously described the allegation as “resisting arrest” which falls under the same section of the penal code, Zins said.

Vaughn chose to submit a blood sample rather than a Breathalyzer to test his blood-alcohol level, Zins said. The results were not immediately known.

Vaughn, who lives in Manhattan Beach, was released later in the morning and given a citation to appear in court. No information was given on when he is due in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Torrance.

Zins said he couldn’t comment more on the arrest until prosecutors review the case and decide whether to file charges.

Alan Nierob, a spokesman for Vaughn, said he had no comment.

The mind fekin boggles at celebrities who drink drive.

They can probably afford to buy a hundred taxi firms with the change in their back pocket yet choose to endanger their own and lives around them.

@Dónal O’Leary: I’m in the US right now and drink driving seems prolific and acceptable to most people I’ve spoken to. I don’t know how drunk you’d have to be or who you’d have to piss off to get arrested for it.

Not defending him if he was drink driving, but how can police get away with running to the media with the custody mugshot etc. just because this guy is supposedly famous?
The same happened with Cliff Richard a couple of years ago and he was subsequently found to be completely innocent.

@Walt Jabsco: In America mugshots are made public/posted online, along with your alleged crime. That’s how the media get.

@Annette: not that great though is he? Always disliked him. Not sure if that is because of his acting or because he comes across as full of himself.
