yes they do and we are. We have been responding to these type of simplistic depictions since TV began. Years of the same has convinced ad agencies that this is what gets us going. Maybe not you, but your neighbour. They have a lot of highly paid costly research which tells them so.

That ad is on Radio Nova which is brilliant but those ads make me change over when I hear them. Which is a shame cos I miss some good music but the ads are so annoying.

Ah here lads, the worst ad on TV by a country mile are the Cost Plus sofas ads. They don’t even make sense and appear to be written by a two year old. Aliens with dogs buying couches, talking crocodiles done with the most basic and backward editing software and strangely all sound the same (They seem to only be able to afford one voiceover). Ppl say if your ad is bad it will stay in ppls minds and they’ll talk about it. In Cost Plus sofas case the ad is so bad it would stop me walking through the door as it is proof they use child labour!

Anything with a Billy-Barry kid (or whatever the modern equivalent is) in it. The Vee-Haitch-Eye ad with yer wan and her toyneee baaybeeezz, and that feckin Kerrygold advert with the pregnant couple heading off to Germany and the Oirish Mammy giving her (presumably) daughter-in-law the stink-eye for stealing her precious baby-boy away. That ad may as well just say – ‘Irish Mammies, we’re going to patronise you into buying our stuff cos we really, no really think you and only you can take care of your boy – why would he want to be happy and start his own family when he has you’.
