TICKETS FOR POPE Francis’ visit to Knock Shrine in Mayo have been booked out, just four hours after they became available.
In total, 45,000 tickets were available for the Pope’s visit to the holy site. They were free of charge and became available at 5am this morning online, before being quickly snapped up.
Earlier, at just prior to 8am the queue on the World Meeting of Families (the event for which Pope Francis is visiting, stretching from 21 to 26 August) website was some 50 minutes long. Subsequently the tickets site froze.
However, the queue later righted itself and wait times are down to just a minute.
The site itself had gone live at 5am this morning. Pope Francis will be in Ireland for two days, 25 and 26 August.
500,000 tickets were available for the mass in the Phoenix Park, and it is believed that a number are still available for this event – but they are quickly being booked.
It is not possible to book tickets for both events, both in Dublin and at Knock Shrine.
All children are also required to have a ticket.
Speaking to RTÉ Morning Ireland earlier, communications manager with the World Meeting of Families Brenda Drumm said that demand for tickets is “strong”, and that several thousand for the final mass in the Phoenix Park on 26 August had already been snapped up.
She said that there has been substantial interest from abroad in securing tickets also.

I get paid by the department so they’re my employer, the pp simply sat there in the interview, asked the ethos question and went back to sleep. As i haven’t seen a member of the church since, it’s safe to say they couldn’t care less about the place or promoting the ethos. this feeling was compounded when i saw the level of funding the school gets (not enough books/old books, relying heavily on donations/charity) when the school should be very well resourced given its location. I do however, teach according to the ethos and give lip service to the liturgical calendar. I simply don’t teach religion for 30 mins a day as there is enough on the curriculum to be teaching instead of brainwashing the next generation. As for the parents wanting to send their children to a Catholic ethos school….they don’t have a choice whether they want to or not. All schools in the locality are Catholic ethos. Thankfully, with the recent changes, albeit 20 years too late, children won’t be rejected places due to their beliefs/non-beliefs. Like i said, the sooner the church and state fully separate, the better.

I’ve been quite clear about my stance so i don’t really know what you don’t understand. I work in a Catholic ethos school. My choice of schools is quite limited so it’s not a matter of just picking where I want to go. Plus any principals/views I hold towards to the church are outweighed by the enjoyment I get from teaching in this school. Just because I don’t like the colour green doesn’t mean I avoid playing football on grass pitches. Terrible analogy but you get the picture…..or do you?!

Elderly and sick people are well cared for at these events as special arrangements are made for them. Thousands of sick and disabled people have visited Lourdes etc over many years. Volunteer nurses and carers are on hand to take care of their needs.

This was discussed on the radio today. The reason it has sold out is that idiots from the FB group “Say Nope to the Pope” have been ordering tickets as some sort of act of defiance. They have no intention of using them, thus depriving genuine people of a place. Seems the liberals motto is “tolerance for all, except those who don’t agree with us”. Deplorable people.

It’s all about creating demand for the church. They couldn’t put on two or three events, had to be one, and sur the website had to crash with the demand, didn’t it. Of course the innocent older generation are falling for the hype created by the church too!
