Customers complain over widespread Vodafone broadband outage

Vodafone has confirmed that there was an issue with the provider’s fixed broadband this morning.

VODAFONE CUSTOMERS TOOK to social media to vent their frustration following a broadband outage this morning.

Vodafone has confirmed that there was an issue with the provider’s fixed broadband that affected some of its customers, but that normal service has since been resumed.

“Vodafone Ireland became aware of a fixed broadband issue this morning that affected some of our customers,” a spokesperson said.

“Our engineers have been working since then to fix this issue.

This issue has now been resolved and regular service is back in place. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Vodafone customers took to Twitter from early this morning to report outages at different locations across the country.

People reported issues with the fixed broadband in Dublin, Cork, Sligo, Offaly, Wexford, Galway and other areas.

People also expressed frustration at the long wait times on the provider’s customer care helpline and the fact that no reply came from Vodafone’s Twitter account.

The Vodafone Twitter account is online from 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

    @bmul: they’ll are shite at the best of time ! Just recently got the fibre in and all was going great, but after a few hours in the signal went upstairs and password was being rejected, when I rang my provider I was told some in the area was causing it problems !!!!

    @Kim Prylowski: No way.Virgin may have other problems regarding their TV channels and you never know when a favourite channel might just disappear but Virgin’s broadband is second to none.

    @Tony Mcgrath: it’s down to the heatwave, eir’s wet string has dried out. They’re sending out engineers with buckets of water to rehydrate the network.

    Was out in Limerick this morning. Went on to the Vodafone web page and got chatting to their tech team in 9 mins. Explained to me what the issue was and that was that. Happy with their service.

    @Paul: it’s in Egypt actually and they’re technically quite savvy and good, if that’s what your issue is. I’ve learned though to not expect them to care much about customer loyalty or have particularly good “soft skills”. I also agree that typing is better than calling.

    Have had both sky and eircom both were crap with virgin now 220 mb and recieve between 150 – 200 . for the same price 40 mb was the best sky could offer. Go with virgin!

    @Dave Walsh: engineer from Digiweb came here and didn’t have a drill bit for the window frame so just put the cable through the window opening I couldn’t close the window. Good job I saw it before he left I forced him to go into town to get the proper drill bit. Complete cowboy

    @Jonathan Power: And he came back and did it ? As far as I’m aware both Citizen and Sky installers were forbidden from drilling through window frames. Policy must have changed.

    It seems to me, a distinctly non techno, that most ,if not all of these broadband dealers, are over selling the systems & not putting enough on the ground support to make sure all works well & reliably. The chat lines are simply not good enough for most consumers, & signing up for long contracts deserves a front door set up & back- up.
    The regulator is quite good in monitoring & assisting with complaints, but I reckon that the standard contract performance needs to be set much higher for these companies.
    Why should masses of consumers, who are being debited higher prices than across Europe, be consistently subjected to erratic service.
    It is simply not satisfactory at all.

    Not a Vodafone customer, but I bet it was DNS. change your DNS to 8.8.8.8 and secondary DNS to 8.8.4.4
