A MAN IN his 70s has died after the SUV he was driving crashed into a wall in Mayo yesterday evening.
The crash happened at about 6.45 pm on the N5 at Ballinvoher near Swinford.
Gardaí have said that the car the man was driving left the road and struck a wall.
The man was the sole occupant of the car and he was pronounced dead at the scene before his body was removed to University Hospital Mayo.
The site of the crash and the vehicle involved have both been examined by garda investigators and gardaí are also urging any witnesses to the crash to contact them.

We don’t know the circumstances of this accident, though the N5 road is more or less, the main route in and out of Mayo.
An Extremely busy road and only single lane.
@Just Eoïn: more likely falling asleep at the wheel which can be more dangerous that drink driving . And the Gardaí shouldn’t be chatting about these things when they continually lie about other statistics
