Druids Glen Hotel and Golf Resort in Co Wicklow has gone on the market for a guide price of €45m.

The luxury resort, which is popular among golf fans, has hosted a number of prestigious tournaments over the years.

2. Dublin will have 5,000 more hotel rooms by 2020 – but it’s not enough

[image alt="hotel rooms" src="http://cdn.thejournal.ie/media/2018/08/hotel-rooms-2-296x197.jpeg" width="296" height="197" credit-source="Rollingnews.ie" class="alignnone" /end]

According to a new Fáilte Ireland report, Dublin city will have more than 5,000 brand new hotel rooms between now and 2020, with 3,000 of those already under construction.

But based on projected levels of visitor demand, Fáilte Ireland chief executive Paul Kelly says there is a “strong incentive” for more investors to move in.

3. Six new Educate Together schools open this week

[image alt="educate together" src="http://cdn.thejournal.ie/media/2018/08/educate-together-3-296x193.jpeg" width="296" height="193" title="" class="alignnone" /end]

Educate Together has opened four new second-level schools and two new national schools this week. None of the schools will open in their permanent accommodation. Educate Together said in a statement that this is not ideal for any developing school.

Three secondary schools are set for Dublin (Dublin South City, Firhouse and Malahide) and one will open in Limerick, while the new primary schools are in Fermoy and Dublin South City.

4. Hosepipe ban extended for 16 counties for another month

Irish Water’s conservation order on water will remain in place for 16 counties in the Republic of Ireland to “manage scarce resources in these areas”.

The ban could continue until September 30th. The counties where the hosepipe ban will now lift are Clare, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Donegal, Longford, Cavan and Monaghan.

5. Historic Limerick hotel hits the market for €2.5m

The Castle Oaks House Hotel in Castleconnell went on sale last Wednesday, according to the Limerick Leader.

With 64 bedrooms, the four-star manor house offers views of the river Shannon and sits on manicured grounds. It’s now on sale for €2.5 million.
