6 of the best... nutritious soup ideas for a comforting one-bowl meal

Recipes to soupercharge your dinner.

CAN YOU BELIEVE it’s September already? We don’t want to get too ahead of ourselves, but we’re secretly dreaming of cosy evenings curled up in front of the fire.

As well as bringing said cosy evenings and leaves falling from the trees, autumn also brings with it comfort food. And what better comfort food is there other than a good bowl of soup! Full of nutrients and usually very simple to make, soup is one of the many pleasures of this time of year.

Soup is one of the most budget friendly meals you can make, and is also great for using up any leftovers. I always find I make far too much to finish, so if you end up doing the same why not freeze it in batches to enjoy later. From after school suppers to lazy weekend lunches, we’ve rounded up our favourite soup recipes below.

1. Curried Sweet Potato Soup, from Karen Coakley: This flavoursome soup is packed with antioxidant rich sweet potatoes and really easy to make. Serve with a swirl of crème fraiche and crusty bread for a warming autumnal lunch.

2. French Onion Soup, from One Man’s Meat: A deeply satisfying soup, the onions turn mellow and sweet when slowly cooked. The key to this soup is a home made stock, which gives it its famous smooth and silky texture.

3. Leek, Potato and Bacon Soup, from Polka Foodie: Leek and potato soup is a classic, and one of the easiest soups you could make. This recipe is topped with pieces of fried bacon, giving that extra savoury kick.

4. Spicy Sweetcorn Soup, from The Picky Eater: Sweetcorn is at its seasonal best at the moment in Ireland, and what better way to enjoy it than in a spicy, fragrant soup? Super tasty, and low in calories.

5. Chorizo and Butterbean Soup, from Nadia Lim: Stuck for midweek dinner ideas? This hearty soup is quick to make and delicious! Served with freshly baked garlic bread, this would definitely be a meal in itself.

6. Thai Courgette Soup, from Gourmet Grazing: This fresh and light Thai inspired soup makes for a delicious low fat meal. It’s also a good one to freeze in batches and bring to work for a healthy fuss free lunch!

40 years old is a bit misleading. To nerds sending a mail in a lab? Think i got my first mail in 1995

Yeah and it was well after that that it became adopted widely enough to be of any use for marketing. Plus, let’s not forget that email marketing only works in tandem with functional online stores, which didnt really exist until the late 1990s (eg Amazon’s IPO was in 1997, and it didn’t make a profit until 2001).

Find facebook too restrictive. Its great if your just a big brand wanting image and logo, but if your message wants to get your USP’s across and a phone number, then facebook needs to broaden its protocols. Its obviously designed to suit facebook, and yet there’s more freedom with a street billboard. Perhaps fit the nerd at facebook read Ogilvy’s ‘Confessions of advertising man’ he would discover learn how the industry works . . Emails, brilliant. they fall into the format of the worlds most oldest format of advertising; the editorial style.

Surely those figures are skewed, considering email newsletters are something you have already showed an interest in,bought something from in the past, or was recommended by a friend, so therefore you would be more likely to buy from?

How do you get someone on your email list? Facebook Adverts and Adwords, so social is important. Doesn’t sound like he tested Facebook ads with their great targeting. Email probably is the most effective, but it’s isn’t free, you need a good CRM to do email properly,

You just need a list. Why do you think so many stores are asking for email address when you buy products

If it’s just a list and not relevant to you when you receive the email, then you will just deleted it. Newsletters via email are now tailored to you based on your needs and trends/buying habits. Under Armor for example used to just send out generic emails offers. Now they can customize and change them as they have a lot of data on you.
