Mobile coverage on Eir back to normal after daytime outage

Customers had taken to social media to complain about the length of eir’s outage today.

LAST UPDATE | 12 Sep 2018

MOBILE PHONE NETWORK Eir has said that the problem with its mobile coverage is fixed this evening after widespread problems were reported today, with customers in several locations unable to make calls.

Eir thanked customers for their patience for the earlier outage, which has been resolved.

“We are aware that some of our customers are facing issues with 2G and 3G calls,” the company said earlier.

“This is currently under investigation and we hope to have a resolution very soon.”

Eir said the issues were being reported “in various locations throughout the country”.

Customers took to Twitter to complain, opining the length of time taken to resolve the situation.

The company had not provided a timeframe for the issue to be resolved.

Customers affected were urged to contact Eir on its social media channels

With reporting from Sean Murray

@Ray Dunne: there are 32 counties in Ireland. The term “island of Ireland” makes no geographical sense as Ireland comprises a number of islands

Pardon my ignorance, but perhaps someone can tell me what exactly is Geo Blocking?
    How does it work?

And if someone has an aerial, then…
    …well, how does it work?

    And who does this GeoBlocking?
    The broadcaster (e.g. RTE)?
Or the authorities in GeoBlocked affected areas?
