@Edward Smith: Putin’s Russia which has carried out chemical attacks on our closest ally. Putin’s Russia which illegally annexed land of another sovereign nation. Putin’s Russia which silences its internal opposition and press with bullets. Putin’s Russia that has propped up a regime in Syria that carried out chemical attacks on children. Putin’s Russia that has been implicated in the murder of 150 plus people flying on a commercial airline. Yeah, poor Putin’s Russia. It’s so misunderstood.

@Philip Kavanagh: ‘our closest ally’. We’re a neutral nation. ‘Our closest ally’ has been our worst curse down the centuries, up till 20 years ago they were murdering your compatriots at will. Give me Russia or China any day. They just want trade. Britain views us as their unofficial territory, to do with as they please

@Philip Kavanagh: American democrats love to blame Russia for everything including Trump getting “democratically” elected by Americans who were tired of the same fake news from the same sources. I’m not a Trump fan but I’m less impressed with Clinton and her bots who riot on the streets when result doesn’t go her way. I respect your right to believe them and their British allies who have been convinced that Russia were behind it but I don’t believe them… just like when I didn’t believe G Bush when he convinced Tony Blair to spread “fake news” to his country and allies that there were mmd’s in Iraq during the high oil crisis there at the time. Result: illegally invaded Iraq, killed their leader and thousands of innocent civilians including kids and kept the oil. Btw – no MMDs ever found

@John Mullin: democratically elected would surely invoice over getting more votes no? I can tell you’re not a Trump fan alright. Your use of terms like “Clinton and her bots who riot in the streets” and “American democrats love to blame Russia”. You seem a little bit confused. Russian interference is the one thing that both parties in America agree on. And nobody is saying they won him the election, just that they interfered. There is bipartisan agreement on that apart from a few noisy outliers.

@Dave O Keeffe: ahh! Poor Dave. It’s you that’s confused & I know that happens easily & often judging by your posts. The terms putinbots or Trumpbots is normally used by snowflakes like yourself who believe the US media in everything even when proven to be lying. I was being ironic by using the term Clintonbot in reply to a previous poster who used Putinbot but you obviously didn’t pick up on that. Trump was elected in a democratic process whether you like to admit it or not. It was also one of the lowest voter turnouts in history because like myself most didn’t like either candidate. Clinton’s campaign crew sabotaged Bernie Saunders who was a democrat and I believe a better choice as president to the other 2 but Voters elected Trump in protest to popular US policies including “fake news”

@John Mullin: It’s you that seems to be confused.Let me explain why.It was Hillary who was the life-long Democrat. It was the Hillary side who pumped the money into the ‘broke’ Democratic campaign. It would have been the Hillary financial heavy hitters that would have been seriously peeved off if their money was used to try and get the Independent Bernie elected over her..It was Hillary who gave Bernie a serious whipping…and by the way,I’m a Bernie man…

@Seán Ó Briain: phishing and spear phishing are the lest sophistcated forms of getting account credentials and some of the oldest methods around, anyone with a corporate account anywhere will recieve these with subjects like suspicious activity detected using you pay pal account etc. etc. Its the same email sent to thousands of people that some people will follow the links in and enter their password, banking details or revenue information. It cant be considered hacking because it depends on some moran/automaton just giving away thier details and usually a couple of minutes later realizing something is up. The DNC ‘hack’ was embarrassingly easy both because Clinton forwarded the original phishing attempt to her IT staff and they in turn told here it was a real request to change her password from Google (she was using gmail). She did not have multi factor authentication enabled and because the password was changed she was in fact locked out of her account while the attackers downloaded the entire mailbox, she was the democratic nominee, secretary of state, flotus etc. But then omarosa was able to record the chief of staff in the situation room while being fired on a very hackable listening device. What this article is ramping up the retheroic on is yet another phishing ‘attack’ which by themselves (without the moran ) are totally benign. Yet somehow these idiots have managed to bring artifical intelligence into the picture when all they need is a stern talking to.

@BarronVonVaderHam: social engineering is one method to hack. It being a low tech method does not change what it is.

Also, I am convinced that people here are mostly trolling (moreso than usual). I just find it so hard to believe that anyone with an IQ measuring more than their waist size, who is not profiting from Trump’s corruption, can actually stand up for him.

PS – it’s “moron”, not “moran”.
