Workmen deal with a fallen tree on Finglas Road, Dublin PA Wire/PA Images

Traffic disruptions continue into the evening as a result of Storm Ali

Work crews have been attempting throughout the day to clear roads and rail lines across the country.

LAST UPDATE | 19 Sep 2018

A NUMBER OF bus and rail services around the country are continuing to experience major delays and disruptions due to Storm Ali.

Work crews have been attempting throughout the day to clear roads and rail lines blocked by trees and debris that have fallen as a result of strong winds.

On the Luas Green Line, services between Balally and Dominick have been disrupted after a tree fell on the overhead powerline.

About ten trams were operating on the Green Line when the incident occurred close to the Charlemont stop.

Green Line services are operating between Broombridge and Dawson and Balally and Bridesglen with an average frequency of between 8-10 minutes.

In a statement this evening, Transdev has said that the Green Line will now operate between Beechwood and Dawson tomorrow.

Luas tickets will be valid on Dublin Bus for the duration of the disruption.

“We know tonight there will be no service [from Beechwood to Dawson] as there is significant damage to overhead power lines in this area and maintenance who are on the site will not have it rectified for the morning rush hour,” the statement said.

Luas will meet at 12.30pm tomorrow and updates are expected to be released later in the day.

All Red Line services are operating normally.

Bus Éireann is experiencing delays to a number of its routes.

Following the cancellation of day two of the National Ploughing Championships, Bus Éireann has said that any tickets purchased for today’s events are eligible to be refunded or can be used to travel to the event tomorrow.

Keep an eye on all the disruptions on the Bus Éireann website.

Iarnród Éireann is experiencing similar delays to a number of its services, including damage caused to the Westport to Dublin train earlier this morning.

The line between Dundalk and Newry has reopened.

Irish Rail has said bus transfers remained in place for the 7pm Connolly to Belfast service. The 8.50pm Connolly to Belfast service will operate through to Belfast.

Dublin Bus has a number of diversions in place around the city and is updating route information regularly as roads get cleared.

A full list of diversions can be found here.
