Tickets for Spice Girls in Croke Park have SOLD OUT as fans vent anger online

The tickets went on sale at 9am this morning.

TICKETS FOR THE only Irish gig as part of the Spice Girls reunion tour have now sold out.

Tickets for the 24 May 2019 concert in Croke Park were priced at between €59.50 – €191.00 and went on sale at 9am this morning.

MCD Productions announced at just after 11.30am that the tickets are now gone.

Even before the tickets sold out, fans had already gone online to vent frustration at the sale process.

Several said they appeared to have tickets before the web page stalled and they went back in only to find they were only offered more expensive tickets.

Ticket resale website Viagago already has numerous tickets for the concert available to buy on its website.

Dublin North West TD Noel Rock, who has previously introduced legislation aimed at tackling ticket touting, said in a statement that action is needed.

“The exploitation of fans needs to Stop right now. Legislation is sorely needed here which is why I am lobbying government to enact my touting proposals as soon as possible.”

If we Wannabe good legislators, we’ve got to buck this trend. Tickets for the gig are already selling for €450 on Viagogo, the main facilitator of touting. This is far Too Much. You’d need to be Posh Spice to afford this Scary price.

“Real fans are sick of paying through the nose for tickets to concerts in Ireland.”

The 90s pop superstars announced a much-awaited return earlier this month but Irish fans were initially left disappointed by a UK-only tour.

A week later, the band announced a single date in Dublin’s Croke Park to take place a week before the start of the UK tour.

@Trevor Hayden: Real question is in 2018 who still wants to see the Spice Girls. Young Girls today haven’t a clue who they are, I would have thought Women in their 30′s and 40′s would have grown up by now and be too embarrassed to go..

Ticketmaster have the complete run of the ticket sale industry.
They dont seem to have to answer to anyone for the brutal service.
Any kind of medium demand for tickets ends up crashing the website and as for the prices, they are mad money to be paying. Better off spending money on ticket going to the UK and make a night of it with cheap flights and accomodation.

It is sad. There is surely some equally creative solutions to control and ban this extortion?

@Mickey Finn: It would be OK for the artists if they got a fair slice of the wedge. There’s no living to be had now from recorded music as it’s only role is to get bums on seats at gigs. That wouldn’t affect the Spice Bags but for many other bands it’s the only way to make a living after they’ve been shafted by record companies, publishers and management. Many if the acts you see in the bigger gigs are skint. I have an old good mate who is constantly touring off the back of very well known 80s hits after being shafted royally by the industry.

Some music festivals have solved this problem very easily: when you buy a ticket you have to provide a persons name which is then tied to that particular ticket.
You can only enter if you have a ticket and the name on the ticket matches your ID.
If it’s not your name on the ticket – no entry.
If you play dumb and pretend that you ‘forgot’ your ID – no entry.
And voila, no one buys tickets from touts as they are worthless to anyone except the person who bought them.
    Case closed.
