'An antidote to the Kardashianisation of this generation': A sneak peek of tonight's Toy Show

This year’s theme is inspired by the 2017 Hugh Jackman musical The Greatest Showman.

TheJournal.ie / YouTube

IT’S LATE LATE Toy Show time again – and we’ve been out to RTÉ for a sneak peek at the set.

This year’s theme is inspired by the 2011 Hugh Jackman circus musical The Greatest Showman, and will see host Ryan Tubridy singing and dancing.

“The Greatest Showman is a great theme,” Tubridy told us, “because it allows us to celebrate children who aren’t like everyone else… ones who are a bit quirky.”

There will be more than 200 young performers and 30 toy testers taking part, coming from all over Ireland.

We’ll see you front of the TV from 9.30pm. But for those who are extra excited, there’s a warm-up show at 7pm looking back at Tubridy’s 10 years at the helm of the great Irish tradition.

Just curious and not being smart here Billie but do you get colds or get sick a lot like viruses.. I ask because i know someone who does the same as you and is always sick with colds and flu as they never build up their resistance to germs… I am all for hand washing as i work in a hospital and it’s just habit with me to do it a lot but not to the extreme! People tend to forget to wash their thumbs and just rub their palms together…! Remember the thumbs people ! :D

I remember when my kids were born and were toddlers I would wash my hands over 80 times a day. My hands suffered as I ended up with really dry skin. I’m down to about 30 times a day now but still suffer with dry hands.

Washing your hands after using the toilet does not mean you have a mental illness, it means you have a basic level of personal hygiene.
I am aware we all have millions of bacteria within our own body, some of them very necessary for our survival.
Personally, I don’t want to transfer the bacteria and other contaminants from my hands to my mouth from the shit of a person too lazy or just plain filthy to wash their hands after using the toilet.

You suggested earlier that someone who washes their hands after using the toilet has a mental illness. Now it’s common sense? Make up your mind. Perhaps it’s you who has a mental illness? Which one of you am I speaking to? My point, you imbecile is that if someone who has used the bathroom before me and hasn’t washed their hands afterwards and then opened the door, they are perhaps passing their shit, piss covered bacteria onto me. If I open the door and then put my hands to my mouth then I’ve transferred the bacteria/contaminants.

My housemate NEVER washes his hands after using the bathroom, my bedroom is right beside the bathroom so I can’t help but notice the whizz, plop plop, flush, door open noises with no tap ever turned on! Iv started to disinfect the remote control on a weekly basis because of him

My company did research on this a few years back and the percentage was way higher than a fifth that didn’t wash. And I mean way higher. Which is now why I carry sanitizer everywhere :)
