LILLIE’S BORDELLO, ONE of Dublin’s most iconic nightclubs, is set to close after Christmas.
The Porterhouse Group, which runs the nightclub, announced today that the venue will shut its doors for the final time on 19 January.
The Grafton Street club became famous for its popularity with both domestic and international celebrities, with Rihanna, Julia Roberts, Mick Jagger, Cillian Murphy and Bono among those to set foot inside over the years.
The Porterhouse Group did not reveal what will become of the venue, but said in a statement that ”exciting plans” are afoot for the club, which it expects to announce in the spring.

Got thrown out of that place one night. I was at the bar and ordered 4 beers. The bar girl came back with 5. I said sorry, I only wanted 4. Next thing I knew, a bouncer had me out on my ear. I’d like to think I was drunk… But wasn’t. Didn’t even get my jacket back.

@Colonel Grant: Whats happening in Dublin all the good nightclubs are closing, usually major european cities always promote nightlife and nightclubs as an attraction for visitors. Yet dublin is closing down all theirs, dublin was never known for its nightclub scene but its going from bad to nothing. Like it or not a healthy nightlife scene is an essential in attracting investment, its one of the reasons london has “the city” and all the big international bankers.

@john bennett: Property is on the way up again and the nightclub scene is worth a lot less as people stay home or go for a meal instead.

Was in the VIP zone once only with a developer (now bankrupt) who was throwing money around on champagne and his pretty entourage with talks of signing us up as members of Phoenix horse polo club. Surreal. Every time I went to toilet was asked who I was with. Dropped a name and all was fine again.
Club 92 in Leopardstown as well , not that I personally care, but they had a very well run school disco that my kids go to
Loved it. Only when in vip though. Gerry Ryan sang a song for my missus on her engagement. Rip Gerry.
Imagine being important enough to be allowed into Liilies, just imagine how you would feel being one of the in crowed, to be accepted by high society, just think how what it would mean to be one of the few……lol
Absolute dump.
Was in it once. Expected this spectacular place but found it to be a complete shlthole, crap music, sticky floors, rude bar staff and dlickhead bouncers who thought they were doing you a favour by letting you in.
More Apartments – maybe even an Airbnb or Mini Hotel…. IF Walls could talk, those walls could tell a tale or too.
