@Peter Hughes: Funny you say that about religion and you’re most likely right, but at least he’s not advocating abortion right up until a woman’s labour has begun like New York and Virginia Democrats, while removing words like ‘substantive danger’ (to the mother’s life) from the law. These people are sick. Heck, they even put in the bill that the abortion doesn’t have to be done by a doctor. Being pro choice is one thing, but this is surely infanticide.
The legislation removes the current requirement that 3 physicians agree that a woman is in need of a late-term abortion. The new bill would require only the consent of the mother and of the physician performing the abortion.

@Shane Dignam: It takes a very sick mind to think anyone would avail of such a service just because they don’t want to be pregnant. This would mean all has failed and the fetus is no longer viable. @Rob Cahill: Look Rob, I’m pro choice but there still has to be standards. Some of the main reasons to avail of a very late term abortion are fetal viability, abnormalities or mental state of the mother. So in the case of mental state of the mother, if she hasn’t made the decision to abort by 39.9 weeks due to her mental state, do you think it’s right that she gets to make her decision just before labour? How do you think her mental state would be affected after? Surely 3 doctors helping with that decision is better than one.

@Shane Dignam: After a foetus is viable they don’t carry out an abortion, it’s called a delivery.

The ones you’re thinking of are in cases of danger to the mother’s health or life or when the foetus isn’t viable. Nothing else.
