THERE HAS BEEN confusion and surprise after news broke that four awards in this year’s Oscars ceremony won’t be aired live – including ones for best cinematography and editing.
High-profile directors including Guillermo del Toro criticised the move by the Academy, which was revealed by Variety. The publication said that four Oscars will be presented during commercial breaks: best cinematography, film editing, live action short and makeup and hairstyling.

The awards had already been the subject of criticism after it emerged that there will be no host this year. Instead, there will be a range of presenters, including Tina Fey, Whoopi Goldberg, Daniel Craig, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Evans and Constance Wu.
“The array of talent anchoring the show this year has brought some of the most indelible moments in recent cinematic memory to audiences around the world,” said the awards’ producer Donna Gigliotti and co-producer and director Glenn Weiss. “They join together to reconnect us with the nominees, their tremendous movies, and outstanding performances.”
The decision regarding host was made after Kevin Hart withdrew from the role in December, following public criticism of years-old homophobic tweets. He apologised for the tweets.
The Irish co-produced film The Favourite is up for 10 Oscars. The awards will take place on 24 February.

I know many Muslims and have no problem defending them. It prohibits a Muslim to befriend a non-believer even if that non-believer is the father or the brother of that Muslim (9:23), (3:28).
Quran tells us to: “not to make friends with Jews and Christians” (5:51), fight them “until they pay the Jizya (a penalty tax for the non-Muslims living under Islamic rules) with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued” ( 9:29). “kill the disbelievers wherever we find them” (2:191), “murder them and treat them harshly” (9:123), “fight and slay the Pagans, seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem” ( 9:5).
