THE WINNER OF last night’s €175 million EuroMillions jackpot has been in contact with the National Lottery.
A spokesperson said the ticket holder contacted Lotto HQ and will be guided through the prize claims process.
It has also been confirmed that the winning ticket was sold in Reilly’s Daybreak in Naul, Co. Dublin.
A spokesperson for the National Lottery told RTÉ’s Today with Sean O’Rourke that the winning store would receive €25,000 for selling the winning ticket.
The winning numbers were 1, 8, 18, 19 and 39. The lucky stars were 7 and 9.
In all, the ticket is worth €175,475,380.
National Lottery CEO Dermot Griffin said that “this is an incredible win” for the Irish EuroMillions player.
“Whilst this is a massive win it can come as a shock to a player and we advise them to stay calm, to get good independent legal and financial advice and contact us as soon as they can.”
While there is only one winner, it didn’t stop people around the country joining in on the fun of the announcement last night on social media.
This is the 14th EuroMillions win in Ireland since the game was launched here in 2004.
The lucky player in Ireland has now become the highest ever winner of a National Lottery game after winning the €175 million.

On 2 weeks annual leave and before I went I asked a few of my work mates to put me into the lotto if they were doing again!! I’m at home now praying they heard me in case we won!!!

It’s some luck to win the lotto in the first place but for that one time to be worth 175m, the biggest pot in Irish history, is just mind boggling good fortune. What a feeling for the winner

Why do we always have to have a witch-hunt for lottery winners? I can’t understand how the privacy of the winner/winners is never respected.

Lots of hard work ahead for the lucky winners in managing their new boodles. And Ireland’s exchequer is also a winner and should gain at least an extra € 5 m per annum in taxes from income earned from winnings going forward, not to mention gift taxes from any distributions within family/friends network.

If that was my win, the first thing I would build would be a massive block of single bedroom apartments with a shit tonne of space and parking and rent them out cheap as chips.
