Recall of SuperValu and Centra bottled water due to 'off odour and taste'

All batches of the five litre bottles of Still Irish Water are affected.

SUPERVALU AND CENTRA are recalling all batches of their five litre Still Irish Water bottles.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland today issued a notice to inform consumers of the recall, which it said was a precautionary measure.

“This is due to an off odour and taste detected in a small number of bottles,” it said.

This recall affects all batches of the five litre Still Irish Water and all best-before dates.

Consumers are advised to return the products to a SuperValu or Centra store.

Why do people buy this stuff anyway? Glass of tap water and a slice of lemon is your only man.

@Johnny Rotten: in parts of Ireland you have boil water notices so glass to the tap not an option.

It doesn’t state”spring” water on the label, only Irish”still” water, so it probably does come out of the tap!

Well I can honestly say that I had the best water you could wish to have until the system was changed with the stupid water meters now you can taste the chlorine absolutely horrific if I didn’t know any different I would think they were deliberately doing it to kill us off but when you see the supermarkets supplying dirty water and that is what it is and nothing else we have big problem.

I wouldn’t drink the cold water from my tap except when boiling it for a cuppa. It certainly doesn’t look clear or drinkable compared to how bottled water usually is. Not the first time I have noticed this either, having lived in a good many flats and bedsits over the years in Dublin.
