Lucky for me, a young southern fur seal decided to chase a group of Gentoos—right towards our Zodiac. It even has its mouth wide open to add to the drama. Right place, right time for the shot.

It took over three years to find the photo. I love everything about this picture—a prowling leopardess, a beautiful tree with the white flowers, soft sunlight—it was just a perfect setting, like a dream.

This was my first ever hike to taft point in Yosemite National Park. I had seen so many beautiful pictures of this location before. After reaching the point, I saw these slackliners. It was amazing to watch these guys over the high cliffs.

    Leopard, for me – they’re so elusive. What a fabulous shot.

    @Karen Lord: I should have entered my photo of a resting Sumerian Tiger – lovely in colour, startling after doctoring it to B&W.

    @Hardly Normal: Sorry, no.
    I took the pic in Australia Zoo, on its Sunshine Coast north of Sydney. You can search for photos of Sumerian Tigers online. They’re bloody huge cats when fully-grown, just that little bit extraordinarily beautiful, not to be confused with similar-looking, slightly smaller, Sumatran Tigers.

    The disparity between the image of Honolulu and the forest walk is both breathtaking and depressing .

    @SFNutters: Yes, that’s true. It was featured on one of Simon Reeve’s travel series on BBC TV. It’s a ship breakers’ yard that leads to much pollution.

    Wild Camargue Horses running through the waters of the marshes are popular photo shoots for tourists in Sth France.
    The annual Saintes Maries de la Mer Gypsy Festival, May 24 to 25, features the Camargue Horses ridden by ‘manadiers’, the French Gypsy cowboys who rear bulls for bullfighting and use tamed Camargue horses for herding. It is said that these horses and gypsies rescued and dragged the boat carrying the three Marys – M Magdalene, M Salome, M Jacobe and Lazarus and Maximin ashore after they were banished from the Holy Land and cast adrift in the Mediterranean sea in a small boat, no oars or sails, to ‘miraculously’ end up being saved on the French Camargue Beach.
    The rescue is re-enacted on May 25th with the Camargue horses and cowboys going into the sea and pulling a boat with statues of M Salome and M Jacobe ashore.
    It is a great colourful occasion for amateur and professional photographers/videographers alike. Even better photos than above of the horses and cowboys here:
