Poll: Do you agree with free GP care for under-12s?

Free GP care is already in place for children under 6.

THE IRISH INDEPENDENT is reporting today that the government has agreed a deal with doctors to fund GP visits for under-12s beginning in 2022.

Free GP care is already in place for children under 6 but the plans envisage that this would expanded over the coming years to include under-8s, under-10s and then under 12s in 2022.

A study by Trinity College last year found that free GP care for under-6s led to a 29% increase in visits by under-6s to GPs.

The article says that the Department of Health’s agreement with GPs would cost €210 million. It had previously been suggested that there could be a nominal fee of €5 per visit for such appointments.

Poll: Do you agree with free GP care for under-12s?

Poll Results:

Yes (7542)
Yes, but there should be a 'nominal fee' (4852)
No, it's a bad idea (2886)
Don't know (240)

Excellent news, it must be a relief to those who live in peril of landslides.

17 million is some investment in COBH and it’s infrastructure during this the worst recession ever.

Now a few thousand jobs for the area please, which is dying on its knees!

We could eliminate 12.67 % of Ireland’s financial and social problems if we agreed to let cork suceed and join the African continent where they truly belong and can intermingle with like minded people……

If it’s a success we should consider financing a project to see if Kerry co co would visit them and consider a move too
