Is it not Referenda ? Like more than one? Or have I actually gotten too old to remember grammar

@Amanda Burns: You’ve opened up a can of worms there. It’s been a divisive issue among scholars for many moons, some say referendum actually has no plural

@Amanda Burns: that was question 13 but was scrubbed as per car reg plates it’d have to be numbered 131 and that would have caused confusion – in a similar way to the brexit vote!

@Tony Donoghue: is divisive only in Latin. in English it’s clear – referendum is the single noun adapted into English, and referendums is the plural. Only if we had a tipping point of use, would it become referenda. Referenda in Latin is also for a number of things being put for reference simultaneously, not for a plurality of referendum over time.

@Barry Somers: the only thing that matters to me, this time around, is that every vote for everyone other than FFG/L is a vote against FFG/L. I’d vote for Jedward, Dustin The Turkey and one of the lowly runners working on Mrs Browns Boys, if they were on the list, but I’ll work with what I have.
I normally only ever put a number beside candidates I specifically wanted to vote for, but it’ll be free-for-all now. Everyone who hasn’t already given two fingers to the worst-off in Irish society will be gettin’ a vote from me.
