Body of homeless man discovered in Co Wicklow

The discovery was made in Bray at around 12pm yesterday.

THE BODY OF a homeless man has been discovered in Co Wicklow.

The 33 year-old’s body was found at Ravenswell on the Dublin Road in Bray just before 12pm yesterday.

Gardaí were subsequently notified about the discovery, and a spokesman said the man’s death was not being treated as suspicious.

Speaking this evening, Anthony Flynn of the Inner City Helping Homeless charity expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the man.

He added that access to homeless beds were “seriously limited”, and that deaths within services were avoidable and that extra supports were essential.

A report into the man’s death will be forwarded to the local coroner.

@Keith: and if it was the fact of the matter? Some can’t be saved, despite all the services available to them! But just use this poor persons death to further your pathetic dig at the Government! I’m sure you would have taken them in and “re-educated” them! Personal responsibility..we all posess it and use it! Some don’t ! Welcome to “Life” .

The shills are out in force on the article this morning, extremely sensitive, attacking anyone who might dare lay the blame for this sad, needless death where it applies. If you read the article it says “access to homeless beds are seriously limited”.
But sure according to Leo, homelessness is “normal”.

@Dave Doyle: you don’t know where the blame lies, IF it lies anywhere. You don’t know this persons history, mental health, addiction, social or family circumstances stances. Homelessness isn’t as straight forward as giving someone a bed.

@Mairtin Antaine O Conaill: and let’s wheel out Margaret Cash’s biggest supporter for another non-inner city homeless incident to tell us how there aren’t enough homeless places, when there are in Bray, and this was a rough sleeper whose circumstances are currently unknown.

For the record I know this man he was not a drug user. I know of an incident where he was beaten within an inch of his life for no other reason other than bullying. He was scared of the hostel

If, and it is a very big if, there was a space for the young man who died on the streets of Bray, then one needs to ask why this space was not taken up by him?

People who write comments here attacking the state and the political leaders do so because they are angered to their core by the death of this young man.

There is a divide throughout society. It is essentially a class divide; and is expressed and found in myriad ways and places. The utterly callous comments, and the disdain shown by those who choose to so, expresses their own political position with regard to the great divides in society.

The great majority care deeply about what is happening to homeless people. They are also angered. In my view it is the pseudo-lefts and the unions who are blocking a real mass campaign to fight for peoples right to a home. The pseudo-lefts and the unions are profoundly cynical. They conciously derail and block the struggle for democratic and social rights.

If the homeless man didn’t go to the shelter then that’s his own choice however if there was no space then the government is to blame.
    RIP.
