Heroin and cocaine worth €300k seized during search of Dublin home

A 48-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

A 48-YEAR-OLD MAN has been arrested after gardaí seized just under €300,000 worth of drugs during the search of a home in Ballyfermot, Dublin.

Last night, gardaí carried out a search of a residence in the Ballyfermot area as part of an intelligence-led operation targeting organised crime.

During the search operation, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau seized heroin to the estimated value of €280,000 and cocaine worth €12,000, pending further analysis.

A 48-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Ballyfermot Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Assistant Commissioner of Special Crime Operation, John O’Driscoll, said last night’s seizure is “significant in disrupting the supply of drugs” to local communities.

As someone who worked the “Sale and Distribution of Street Level Narcotics” for a number of years; it would appear to me that the men got a “Stash House!” Stash Houses are exactly what they sound like. At the end of the night, the Head dealer(s) goes around & “picks up” what wasn’t sold & takes the night’s proceeds. Once back at the house, the unsold product is dropped off & the house secured. The night’s proceeds are then brought back to a “safe house.” This is where the cash is stored & it’s location is constantly being moved so that other dealers wont “rip/rob” them. After those 2 stops, the Head Dealer can then go home. If all of this is done correctly, the police, when raiding the “Dealer’s Pad/Home” may find expensive jewelry, vehicles, & what not. However, no product or cash…ever!
