Two lanes on N7 re-open after serious collision between bus and truck

Gardaí said they were assisting people with non life-threatening injuries.

GARDAÍ HAVE REOPENED a section of the N7 after closing it earlier due to a serious collision between a bus and a truck.

The incident occurred at around 5.40pm today on the Naas Road just after Newlands Cross (near Green Isle Hotel).

There were large volumes of traffic from the M50 earlier as a result of the closures.

Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of the collision and said they were treating non life-threatening injuries.

“We apologise for the delays and thank you for your patience,” Gardaí said on Twitter.

    @Colin Tinnelly:
    Has anyone looked at what these idiots are doing with the n7 at the Carlow exit,we have a huge median and two lanes at the exit what kind of clowns are we dealing with it won’t make a difference with the traffic it is always clogged at the Carlow exit so the answer is two lanes

    The N4/M50 Northbound merge from the N4 is a serious accident waiting to happen. Bit of traffic builds up and everyone starts queuing in the bus lane, then in turn the traffic literally has no way to get onto the M50, the arsebandits in the bus lane won’t let you in, cause they think your ‘skipping’, so your slowing right down while other traffic is going 80kmp/h by. If these idiots only followed yano, ‘the rules of the road’ and didn’t go in the bus lane, everyone would be on the M50 in a jiffy… Get rid of the bus lane or put some plastic sticks down to keep them out. Mark my words, it’s going to cause a fatal road accident one of these days.

    @Dave.: I’m confused – if people don’t Q in the bus lane aren’t they queuing on the left normal lane and blocking traffic anyway? I’m sure I’m missing something – I just can’t picture the issue.

    @Dave.: fully agree. I travel it ever day and cant get into the M50 lane from M4 due to fools using bus lane. No enforcement ever. Gardai enforce the bus lane

    @Dave.: Agree and similar coming off m50 onto n4 no sign for exit until last minute. Loads almost miss it every day and speed in to exit lane so dangerous easily solved with an extra sign to get in the right lane

    @thephantomshit: if people are using the incorrect lane it causes traffic to needlessly slow down due to excessive lane changes, delays in merging due to vehicles being positioned incorrectly, and then there is the delay as people slow down because they have to expect other drivers to be breaking the rules, all of which causes delays that could be avoided if people simply did as they were supposed to
