1. #ALERT A suspicious device found at the offices of Sinn Féin TD Mary Lou Mc Donald this morning has been declared a hoax by the Defence Forces. It was found at the office on North Strand in Dublin this morning by a worker and removed for further analysis.
2. #POLLING As we head into an evening of polling the Fiscal Compact referendum it appears that turnout has been fairly low so far with about 10 to 25 per cent of voters showing up at stations across the country. Meanwhile some of the country’s politicans were up and about early to cast their votes. Check out the pics.
3. #BABY BOOM New figures from the Central Statistics Office have revealed that the number of children born in Ireland is at the highest level since 1891, while Irish women continue to have the highest fertility rate of all 27 EU member states.
4. #SYRIA UN chief Ban Ki-Moon has called on Syria to stop its attacks says after more than 100 people were massacred in the coutry’s central Houla region. Meanwhile it’s emerged that an 11-year-old boy played dead to survive the massacre.
5. #WEATHER Met Eireann has confirmed that Ireland has gotten wetter and hotter over the past 3o years, with an average June temperature of around 13.6 degrees, and a mean (or should that be very mean?) amount of sunshine of 5.3 hours.

Free Now – Are. You. Freaking. Kidding. Me. Possibly the worst move you could make. It’s full of ridicule, has no reference to the business, you’ve burned the goodwill you built up. Twice. Absolute disaster.
@Sequoia: When I first saw ‘Free Now’ I thought it was something to do with cable TV subscriptions – took a long time to figure out it was a taxi company (if that’s what it is).
This must be a great case study on ‘marketing disasters’ for students of marketing.

@Earth Traveller: You’ll never see it as it is unlikely that a technical fault could predict future taxi journeys to pay drivers before said journeys happened .
@Conall: Sure yesterday someone here was calling for a report of hospital figures for the year. People don’t seem to get it that you can’t have the yearly stats before the end of the year happens.
Anyway, glad the drivers had their money sorted out.
Free Now would have been a great name for a Free to air tv operation. Similar to Saorview
Why does a Private Company’s financial hiccup get 2 articles on the Journal? How is this National News…?
