Poll: Have you barbecued this summer?

Despite recent bursts of sunshine it took time for summer to arrive this year.

AS JULY DRAWS to a close and August approaches, the weather this summer has been, well, mixed.

Despite recent bursts of sunshine it’s taken time for summer to hit. Last year, barbecues and garden parties were a fixture during the heatwave.

But this year scraping the grill clean may not appeal.

Today we’re asking: Have you BBQ-d this summer?

Poll Results:

Yes (6081)
No (5066)
No, but I'll give it a try today sure (183)

@Pseudonym: Stop trying to be a Debbie Downer, we’ve had and are still having fantastic weather. Just because you don’t have blistering sunburn doesn’t mean the weather isn’t gorgeous.

@Pseudonym: indeed been a great summer, many more dry warm sunny days thank wet ones. Garden soil is more dry than last year, so must have been good. The rain a couple of days ago helped though. I am in the west, maybe Dublin got a soaking this summer?

I bbq all year round, nothing like it. If it’s raining I just put the large parasol umbrella over it.

A BBQ is for life not just for summer.

Nowt beats the first Christmas in a new place when the neighbors knock over in a panic thinking your house is on fire when it’s just Christmas dinner on the good coals

I got a bad dose of food poisoning many years ago due to the organisers using raw chicken and contaminated meat.
    Haven’t touched one since.

@Jason Ebbs: Just to clarify. It’s a Korean barbecue. They put the raw ingredients in front of you and a person grills it at the table. The chicken was so fresh (it was killed in the kitchen minutes before and fillited at the table), that it’s nervous system was still causing muscles to twitch. Chickens bodies can stay alive after the head has been removed. Hence the expression, “Running around like a headless chicken”.

A gas BBQ is the best investment ever. We BBQ most Saturdays from May-Sept and grill enough for leftovers at Sunday Lunch. Even if it is not brilliant weather the gas BBQ does not disappoint. Unless the tank runs out mid-BBQ….
