1. #BAILOUT: The €100billion EU bailout for Spain has been welcomed by finance minister Michael Noonan as IMF head Christine Lagarde also hailed the move. The Sunday Business Post reports that the Government will use the opportunity to lobby for a deal on Ireland’s bank debt.
2. #WALLACE: Pressure is growing on TD Mick Wallace over his tax affairs, with five fellow members of his Dáil technical group now saying he should resign, the Sunday Times reports. The paper adds that Wallace has cancelled his trip to Euro 2012 in Poland.
3. #KATE FITZGERALD: A new garda investigation has been launched into the death of Kate Fitzgerald, who was previously believed to have committed suicide, according to the Sunday Independent. The new inquiry is reportedly a response to possible suspicious circumstances around the death.
4. #COYBIG: Ireland’s Euro 2012 campaign kicks off tonight against Croatia at 7.45pm, with captain Robbie Keane saying they can win. 5. #PROPERTY TAX: The new property tax to replace the household charge is likely to be collected by the Revenue – meaning it can be deducted from pay and will not meet the same non-compliance problems as the household charge, the Sunday Business Post reports.
